What is National Animal Shelter Week?
Established in 1996 by the Humane Society of the United States, National Animal Shelter Week is a celebration of animal shelters and the staff who work tirelessly to protect animals and provide support and resources for the people who love them.
The event is celebrated annually by animal organizations nationwide — including Animal Humane Society. This week-long event plays a crucial role in the work we’re able to do year after year, and that’s in large part thanks to you: our animal-loving community.
AHS wouldn’t be able to provide the critical services that it does without your support. Thanks to generous donations in previous years’ National Animal Shelter Week, more animals have found loving, safe homes, more pets and their families have had access to high-quality, low-cost vet care, and more resources have been provided to community members in need.
