On Saturday, March 14, Animal Humane Society arrived at a local airport to pick up more than 60 dogs surrendered by commercial breeders all over the Midwest. Dogs in the commercial breeding business who are no longer able to safely breed often have no place to go.
As a nationally trusted leader in animal welfare, organizations look to us for aid in situations like this one. And we rely on your generosity to ensure we can continue to be there. When you make a gift today, your generosity will go twice as far thanks to a $25,000 match from Richard and Susan Goldman.
We are still assessing these dogs’ medical and behavioral needs. Many require treatment for dental diseases, all will eventually need spay or neuter surgery, and some will need more extensive medical care. Some commercial breeding dogs have never known companionship, which means they’ll need extra time and patience to recover from the past and adjust to their new lives. Your generous support gives them that time, as well as everything else they’ll need to find their second chances.
Please give today and ensure AHS can respond to community calls for aid and be a safe place for animals who need care for years to come.
